The Silo: Ag-Science Education
This is my senior capstone project from 2024. We were given the ability to do whatever we wanted for this project. Our professor told us that the business didn’t have to even be in the realm of possibility as long as our designs were effective. I brainstormed several ideas for this project, including an apothecary, brewery, or stationary business. But when it came down to it, I decided to fall back on my roots.
I grew up in 4H and the FFA (Future Farmers of America) and developed a deep love and respect for agriculture. Within recent years, activist groups such as PETA and like-minded politicians have pushed legislation that heavily affects the agriculture industry. Through slander and misinformation, they gain support from the younger generation. My solution to these issues is a subscription box to educate and inform middle to high-school-aged individuals.
The Silo is an activity-based agriculture box with three pathways: ag-engineering, plant science, and animal science. Through color and illustration, scientific information is paired down to become more digestible and engaging. Each box comes with an activity, educational materials, and an activity guide, all of which have been designed to fit the brand.
