Luminol Invitation Set

For this project, we were tasked to create an invitation set for a social club. I love listening to true crime documentaries and podcasts, so I thought a social club for true crime lovers would be right up my alley. The challenge I faced was picking a design style for this invitation set as I didn’t want to go too cheesy with it.

I decided to take my designs into a more vintage, film noir style. This was inspired by one of the first cases that caught my attention; The Black Dahlia. My entire invitation set was centered around this cold case and urged the “detectives” to try and solve it. To add some more mystery and an interactive element to my invitations, I added hidden messages in UV ink. This references a detective’s process of revealing blood at crime scenes, hence the name “Luminol”. This piece won a Gold Addy in 2024.
