Meet The Designer

Hi! My name is Josie Russell, and I am a 23-year-old Graphic Designer from Mount Olive, Mississippi. I graduated from Magee High School in 2019 and received my Associate of Arts from Jones College in 2021 with honors. Art has always been a comfort to me and continues to be an outlet as I go through life.

I live on a farm currently and have grown up in rural Mississippi my entire life, so most of my inspiration comes from nature. I enjoy organic shapes and forms and try to incorporate them into my art and designs. My goal with any design, however, is to satisfy the customer and to create beautiful, marketable designs that help identify your brand.

The University of Southern Mississippi –
Graphic Design Intern in the
Technology Development Department 2021-2024

I worked with the Technology Development Department during my time at USM creating graphics and layouts for various one-pagers, slide decks, and proposals. 

Southern Florist Rebranding –
Freelance Design Work 2023

I rebranded Southern Florist in Collins, MS to give it a more modern feel and incorporate a fresh color palette. 

The University of Southern Mississippi –
Service Learning Class 2021-2022

I participated in a service learning class as part of my degree, which
included designing a collateral campaign for the Library of Hattiesburg.

Education

Jones College – Associates in Art 2019-2021

I graduated from Jones College with an Associate in Arts in 2021 with a 4.0 GPA after being inducted into the Hall of Fame. 

The University of Southern Mississippi – BFA  in Graphic Design 2021-2024

I graduated with honors from the University of Southern Mississippi, earning my BFA in Graphic design in 2024. During my time there, I earned two Gold Addys, and one Silver Addy for my work, as well as participated in the graphic design team for the USM School of Art and Design. 

Skills and Software

My soft skills include creativity, communication, and teamwork, as well as an amiable personality that meshes well with almost anyone. When it comes to more physical skills, I am versed in welding, sculpting, ceramics, illustration, painting, and drawing. Being a graphic designer, I am also skilled in Adobe software, Windows PowerPoint, and Word.
